A Correction: Eleven Documents We Missed
Our civil-service sweeps missed Federal Register documents that OPM and the Merit Systems Protection Board published between July 31 and August 14, 2026. The notice names them and explains the three ways the sweeps failed. It also corrects our August 3 analysis of Kentucky's Senate vacancy statute: the operative deadlines are 63 and 56 days, not 56 and 49.

Erratum and Correction Record: H.R. 8463 Text Versions
Three corrections to earlier treatments of H.R. 8463. The committee text's tax provision was 26 U.S.C. 6103(i)(9), a closed list of fields, not 6103(l)(23). The “notwithstanding” override was not in the version the House passed on June 8. And the provisions struck before passage are an open thread, not a closed one.
Found an error? Corrections are judged against the primary record: the rule text, the docket, the contract file.
